Driving progress: Embassy of Ireland Invests 1.6 Billion Shillings in Tanzania's Energy Efficiency Action Plan
The Embassy of Ireland has allocated approximately 1.6 billion shillings (equivalent to 600,000 euros) to bolster the implementation of Tanzania’s 1st Energy Efficiency Action Plan. Through a strategic blend of financing new initiatives and upscaling ongoing project activities, the Embassy of Ireland aims to fortify Tanzania's efforts towards energy efficiency, thereby catalysing transformative change in the nation's energy landscape.
Key initiatives include coordinating the implementation of Tanzania's National Energy Efficiency Strategy, gender-focused analyses, professional training in energy management and audit, and supporting a Regional Energy Efficiency Conference. Additionally, Ireland’s funding supports the new Energy Efficiency Innovation Challenge and expands the Young Women Scholarship program to more young women.
During the Steering Committee meeting in March 2024, the Ministry of Energy welcomed the Embassy of Ireland for its generous support and underscored the importance of garnering further assistance from development partners to bolster Tanzania’s pursuit of energy efficiency.
