Develop and implement a framework for energy performance certification in large buildings.

This action focuses on supporting the development and implementation of a framework for energy performance certification in large buildings. The objective is to establish a framework for certifying the energy performance of such buildings and to enhance capacity and awareness through customised training, hands-on training, and a pilot demonstration.

Significant progress has been made in assisting the government in drafting the Building Act and defining building codes related to energy efficiency, renewable energy, and energy utility infrastructure. Additionally, methodologies and procedures are being developed for the certification of large buildings, incorporating specific requirements for efficient energy use in buildings. Furthermore, a regulatory framework is being established for Energy Efficiency Building Codes (EEBC) and Energy Performance Certification (EPC).

The aim of this action is to provide training on Energy Efficiency Building Codes and Energy Performance Certification for designers, architects, and engineers involved in building construction.

The key implementing institutions and partners involved in this initiative are the Ministry of Energy (MoE), President's Office-Regional Administration and Local Government (PO-RALG), Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority (EWURA), and National Construction Council (NCC).
